Webapp Testing

A browser-testing workflow with Playwright-oriented examples and server-lifecycle helpers for checking local web application behavior.

Editorial review checked 2026-10-29 against this instruction snapshot. Supporting scripts and runtime behavior remain outside this editorial review.

What it does

This source helps an agent approach a web interface through observable browser states. It provides examples for discovering what is rendered, interacting with controls and collecting evidence such as screenshots or logs. The local-server helper is a convenience around a test environment; it does not replace deciding which user journey and outcome the test should verify.

Best for

Developers checking a working local application, reproducing a browser-only defect or preparing evidence for a UI change. It is particularly useful when a change involves dynamic content, asynchronous results or a sequence of actions that a static source inspection cannot establish.

Tradeoffs and requirements

The environment needs compatible browser tooling and access to the application being tested. Automation can fail because of timing or selectors even when the product works, and can pass while missing a visual problem. Review helper scripts before execution, follow the source license terms and avoid exposing real credentials or sensitive user data in screenshots or logs.

Suggested workflow

Choose a representative journey, start the required local services, inspect the rendered state and interact through meaningful controls. Check the result after each important transition. Add mobile and keyboard checks where the user flow depends on layout or focus behavior.

How to judge the result

Verify the actual visible outcome, errors, empty states and relevant logs. Keep screenshots for important states, and distinguish local browser evidence from a later production smoke check.
