Choose tools by input, workflow and evidence limitations through original comparisons.
Compare tools around a question, not a generic winner. JADX and Apktool emphasize different parts of an APK: readable methods and decoded resources. Ghidra is a direct native analysis environment, while REA can coordinate provider-backed reads and structured evidence. Their roles can complement each other in the same investigation.
For every comparison, check the exact input format, host operating system, pricing tier, release and source of a claimed feature. A static view cannot prove runtime behavior, and a dynamic trace covers the scenario observed. The pages explain those boundaries so a researcher can choose the next tool and the next validation step.
JADX and Apktool answer different first questions about an APK. Choose JADX when you need to follow DEX classes and methods in readable code. Choose Apktool when resources, manifest decoding or package structure are central. Many investigations use both, but neither view alone proves runtime behavior or perfectly restores the original developer source.
Ghidra is an analysis environment for inspecting native programs, functions and decompiler output. REA can direct a documented workflow through a configured native provider and return structured evidence to a CLI or agent. For a question about a function, the useful choice is often whether to work directly in Ghidra or coordinate selected reads through REA.
